Nvidia launched GTX 1660 super on October 29th. And in this blog, we'll tell you how it can be a good upgrade and a side by side comparison with AMD RX 570 which is an excellent card for 1080p gaming. We've also included benchmarks in the end.
GTX 1660 super is about 20% faster than the original GTX 1660. 1660 has GDDR5 type memory while 1660 super and 1660ti has GDDR6 memory which will give you some advantage in games. Although, if you compare the lineup the specs are almost same but still 1660 super will give you slightly better performance in games.
Right now, there's no AMD competitor of this card but AMD can launch RX5500 soon as its specs have been revealed and it will be powerful than RX 570.
SPECS
It is based on the latest Turing architecture. It has 1408 cuda cores, 1785mhz boost clock, 1530mhz base clock, 14gbps memory speed, 192-bit memory interface width, 336 GB/sec memory bandwidth and comes with a 6GB GDDR6 variant. GPU requires 125W power and 450W is recommended system power. It also has multi-monitor and HDCP support.
Should you buy?
YES, It'd be worth to spend money on this card and in most of the games at 1080p, it'll give you above 70fps and also this card can produce some decent frames in 1440p. You'll get above 40fps at 1440p in modern games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Battlefield 5. But if you wanna go specifically for 1440p gaming, this might be a bad choice if you wanna see those frames up but in 1080p, this is killer. Also if you're not planning to buy any GPU currently and wanna save some money for the right moment then you can also wait for AMD RX 5500 which can be launched anytime soon. What if it provides better value than this.
Difference between GTX 1660 super and 1660ti
GTX 1660 super lie between GTX 1660 and 1660ti and 1660ti will give you 5-10 extra frames in games than GTX 1660 super. In 1080p, 1660ti is 4.5% faster than 1660 super and in 1440p, 1660ti is 4.1% faster than the super version.
Benchmarks
NOTE: ALL THE GAMES ARE TESTED IN 1080P ULTRA SETTINGS.
Price Factor
GTX 1660 super costs $229 and RX 570 costs half of that and obviously provides better value for that price. But it doesn't mean you should not buy 1660 super, as you can see in benchmarks 1660 super is powerful than RX 570 and provides much more frames. So it's a way to go.
