CES will continue till Friday, 10th January. AMD's press conference was yesterday and they made some really great announcements. They were fully prepared and there's no doubt that it was a great launch. From processors to graphics cards, we're going to cover every single thing which impressed us the most and as you guys know that AMD is known for value for money products and here also they didn't stand short. And here are the key highlights of the conference.

1) Threadripper 3990x
Another productivity monster by AMD is here. This is the world's first 64 core processor. It has 64 cores,128 threads, a boost clock of 4.3 GHz on a single core and a base clock of 2.9 GHz, 4 MB of L1 cache, 32 MB L2 cache and 256 MB L3 cache. It is based on 7nm process technology and Zen core architecture. It has an unprecedented 88 total PCIe 4.0 lanes to meet large GPU and NVMe needs. Quad-channel DDR4 with available ECC memory support. It's a beast and a way to go for content creators. It will be available from 7th February and will cost $3990. AMD's CEO, Dr Lisa Su compared 3990x to Intel's Xeon Platinum 8280 which has 28 cores. Even two of them running together in dual-socket configuration couldn't do much against AMD's beast. She also demonstrated a V-Ray workload from the film Terminator and it took 3990x 1 hour and 3 minutes to complete while it took pair of Xeons 1 hour and 30 minutes.

2) 4000 series processors
Ryzen 4000 series, in general, will support up to 8 cores and 16 threads. These series includes Ryzen 7 4800H, 4800U, 4700U, Ryzen 5 4600H, 4600U, 4500U and Ryzen 3 4300U, Athlon Gold 3150U and Athlon Silver 3050U. All of them are mobile chips specifically made for notebooks. It is based on 7nm Zen 2 architecture. Lisa Su announced on stage that Ryzen 4800U has 8 cores, 16 threads and 1.8 GHz clock speed which can boost up to 4.2 GHz. Ryzen 7 4800U is 4% better in single-thread performance, 90% better in multithread performance than Intel's latest 10th gen processor i7-1065G7.

3) New graphics cards
AMD updated its Radeon graphics cards lineup by unveiling RX 5600 XT which has 6GB GDDR6 VRAM, PCIe 4.0 support and it is based on 7nm process technology and RDNA architecture. RX 5600 which is a great option for 1080p gaming and its mobile version RX 5600M made for high-performance laptops and RX 5500M which comes with 8GB GDDR6 VRAM.
RX 5600 is again a great option for 1080p gaming. It offers 36 compute units running at a boost clock of 1560 MHz and a base clock of 1375 MHz. They showed the direct comparison with Nvidia's GTX 1660TI where we saw that AMD card was performing better and was beating 1660TI with a decent margin. And its price is competitive which is same as Nvidia counterpart: $279. The mobile versions will be launching in the first half of 2020.

So, these were the key highlights of the conference. Great launch and great pricing, that's what we wanted. Do comment your views and tell us if you're interested to buy any of these products.
